Baltic Sea & Gulf of Finland

Based in Estonia, we also provide Ice Advisory services for vessels operating in the Baltic Sea, Gulf of Finland, and Bothnia Bay. Our Ice Advisors typically embark from The Skaw, the end of Kiel Canal, or Tallinn roads, where we have reliable solutions in place for crew transfers via launch boats.

Our story

Nord Pilots was founded on the shared vision of two experienced seafarers who met while working aboard an icebreaker.

In challenging conditions, one served as Captain and the other as Mate, navigating some of the world's most formidable ice-covered waters — from the frozen Baltic Sea to the remote Canadian Arctic.

Their time together forged a deep professional bond built on trust, precision, and a mutual respect for the sea. With a growing passion for polar operations and safe ice navigation, both pursued advanced specialization, ultimately becoming certified Ice Advisors with the highest-level qualifications in the field.

Recognizing the need for expert ice navigation services, they established Nord Pilots — a company dedicated to delivering reliable, high-standard advisory and pilotage in ice-covered waters.
What began as a partnership between two ice-seasoned colleagues has grown into a respected name in the field, serving clients across the Polar Regions, the Baltic Sea, and beyond.
